1. The book „Holes” is written by Louis Sachar and takes place in the desert in a place called Camp Green Lake. It is set in the present but in the story there are two other stories from 100 years ago. All three stories are perfectly put together. The main character is a boy called Stanley Yelnats. He is in the camp for a crime he did not commit. The boys have to dig a hole every day. That’s why the book is called “Holes”.
First the boys think they dig to build their characters, but after a while Stanley realises that they have to search for something. It is nice to follow the beginning of a wonderful friendship between Stanley and Zero another boy in the camp.
The book is funny and interesting because of the many coincidences, but sometimes the descriptions how they dig their holes is too long. That’s a bit boring.
If you want to find out how the story goes on you have to read the book on your own!

2. The story ´Holes´ written by Louis Sachar takes place in a hot, dry landscape, the desert of Texas. Stanley Yelnats, a poor and overweight boy, has been sent to Camp Green Lake for a crime he did not commit. In the camp youngsters are forced to dig holes in the desert to improve their character. After some time Stanley realizes that there is another reason why they are forced to dig holes. The Warden, a woman who is the head of Camp Green Lake Juvenile Correctional Facility, searches for something valuable which is connected with the past of Green Lake. 100 years ago something dreadful happened. It is about a murder and a young beautiful woman, the legend of Kissin´ Kate Barlow. Soon Stanley has to fight for his friend Zero and against the authority of the camp.
The book is divided into three parts and fifty chapters. The first part is an introduction to the story. The second describes the conflict. The ending is explained in the last part. There are a lot of flashbacks which explain the curse that has been put on the Yelnats’ family and the legend of Kissin` Kate Barlow.
The book is about friendship. Stanley can trust his family and his friend Zero.
´Holes` is a complex story,  an absolute must for everybody, young or old, who likes an intelligent, courageous, dynamic and exciting read.
